Esprit Electronics is at the forefront of contract electronic manufacturing and provides turnkey manufacture and test solutions to the marine industry, a sector that requires quality and reliable technology that can withstand the most challenging environments.
That’s why industry leader in ultrasonic thickness gauges Cygnus Instruments chose Esprit to provide the PCB manufacture and in-circuit test solutions for its Cygnus DIVE.
The unique Cygnus DIVE is a wrist-mountable, robust underwater ultrasonic thickness gauge, which can perform metal thickness measurements at depths of up to 300 meters. It has many applications including metal thickness and corrosion checks on offshore structures and pipelines, safety inspections on bridges, and ships classification surveys.
“Esprit has met our expectations every step of the way from customer support and response times through to testing and the quality of the product. It’s reassuring to partner with a CEM that you know you can rely on to deliver a first-class service.” Wayne Brown, Cygnus Instruments.
Providing potentially life-saving tracking across the world’s oceans., Esprit is proud to supply electronics to YB tracking for their YB3 device. Amongst other applications, is used in offshore yacht races across the world, including the Fastnet, Sydney Hobart, and the Volvo Ocean Race,
The impressive YB3 tracking device works far beyond the reach of WiFi and GSM networks, automatically sends your position, and allows you to send and receive short messages from anywhere on Earth. The YB3 obtains a position using the GPS satellite network and then transmits that position back to YB Tracking using the Iridium satellite network in a matter of seconds. The message is relayed to YB Tracking from Iridium, where they visualize the positions on an online map.
YB3 is the most robust and reliable satellite tracking system available, which many of the world’s leading yachtsmen rely on to track their position as they navigate some of the harshest ocean environments in the world. The reliability of such devices can be the deciding factor in life or death situations.
Director of YB Tracking, Nick Farrell, said: “It’s important for us to have a supplier we can actually talk to and visit if necessary, in order to make amendments to our products as they evolve.
“We have used both British and overseas suppliers in the past, and we prefer by far to use British ones. The unit cost may be marginally more expensive, but if you look at the savings in communication time, shipping costs, and improved quality, we’ve found it’s far cheaper to buy British.”
“I would describe Esprit as a company built on and around trust and flexibility who proactively seek solutions. They are genuinely customer and people-focused and I would always seek out their help and assistance.
The team has consistently demonstrated flexibility in its approach. We have recently merged with an American partner and thanks to the involvement of Laurie, Russ, and Paul, we were able to seamlessly collaborate across different departments and different time zones, whilst also meeting an incredibly tight timeframe. This had the added benefit of providing an excellent template with which to move forward with our new transatlantic relationship.
Esprit has been incredibly supportive of us as we have gradually evolved our processes and systems during the course of our partnership. On a personal note, their ability to communicate clearly with people who have a range of technical expertise has been key in enabling us to successfully navigate issues as they arise.” Carl McBean, Net2Edge.
Net2Edge helps companies transition networks to perform better, quicker, and more securely. They provide hybrid fiber/copper network integration solutions that increase bandwidth, extend distance, improve security and simplify the management of networks.
