New Vacancy: Senior Buyer

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Esprit Electronics team at their office in Hamble, Southampton.

Role: Senior Buyer.

Salary: £42,500-£47,500 per annum, depending on experience and qualification.

Location: Hamble-le-Rice, Southampton.

Hours: Full time hours: 37.5 – we can be flexible!

Job Description:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in material flow, supporting intricate production schedules from costing to delivery. Esprit provides a comprehensive range of Electronic Manufacturing Services to UK and European markets, with a reputation for developing bespoke and flexible solutions. We are looking for a skilled professional with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and developing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships.

The role encompasses a broad and demanding scope, offering opportunities for career advancement in a company that has consistently achieved year-on-year growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee material flow alignment with production schedules.
  • Drive source development initiatives for enhanced procurement strategies.
  • Demonstrate seasoned judgment for independent decisions and bid management precision.
  • Provide project costings and source materials strategically, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate risks in the electronics manufacturing sector.
  • Lead conflict resolution at departmental and vendor levels for smooth deliveries.
  • Ensure data management compliance for allocated accounts.
  • Address queries, present insightful reports, and maintain organised files.
  • Take full accountability for allocated accounts, serving as the primary procurement contact.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, enhancing customer satisfaction and supply chain efficiency through regular liaison.
  • No current line management responsibilities but the ideal candidate would be looking for this in the future.

Experience/Skills Desired:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Buyer, ideally within the electronics industry or a contract manufacturer.
  • Solid foundation of Higher Education. Candidates with CIPs certification are preferred although we are happy to support people to achieve / complete this qualification. 
  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, risk management, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting tools.
  • Competent computer skills.
